My grandfather was very fond of collecting gold coins.  Ever since we were small kids, he would show us a few of his gold coin collections, since most of his gold coins were stored and kept safe by a gold firm.  What was fascinating back then was the stories my grandfather tell us how he came to possess each gold coin.  I always thought his gold coins were nothing more but mementos of his days as a war hero.

It took me several years to know how valuable his gold coins were.  Gold is a precious yellow metallic element, highly malleable and ductile and not subject to oxidation or corrosion.  And due to these properties that gold is considered as the ultimate asset, it is the purest form of money and the oldest, most durable wealth-preserving money on the planet, no external factors can devalue it. My grandfather’s gold coins which he purchased back in the 1970’s for $25,000.00 is now, would you believe, worth $ 524,999.00 today.  With all his gold bullions, my grandfather will never worry about money.
